Public health and health security

The health sector plays a critical role in achieving sustainable development goals, reducing inequality, and improving quality of life. While major progress has been made in expanding access to health care services in Afghanistan, significant challenges remain around equity, health system resilience, and evidence-informed planning. Meanwhile, a heavy reliance on donor funding, fragmented health system architecture and outdated health delivery model further compounds the problem. ELCS public health professionals provide support to governments, development partners and international organizations in health system reform, building resilient health systems, and devising data driven frameworks to improve population health outcomes, while ensuring adoption of a rapid and coordinated response to public health threats.
